Boogy Productions is a Helsinki-based film boutique where storytelling is driven by soul, a pulse, and a warm perspective on the human experience.

We seek out and distill precise, honest, and vivid observations, moments where humor, vulnerability, and hope intersect. To us, storytelling is rhythm and emotion, balanced with disciplined craftsmanship and a distinctive vision.

Boogy Productions was founded in 2015 by producer-director Severi Koivusalo. In 2026, the company entered a new chapter as its founder returned after gaining extensive experience in major productions and leading production houses. Today, Boogy continues with even greater strength, ambition, and international focus.

Our calling is to create original, profound stories about the human experience. Boogy is the movement, the rhythm, and the story that lingers. Cinema with a pulse.

Meet the Founder

Severi Koivusalo is a filmmaker and producer with a versatile background in the film and television industry, blending artistic vision with high-level production expertise. His work spans feature and short films, TV series, documentaries, and commercial projects. Koivusalo holds a Master of Arts from the Department of Film at Aalto University. His directorial debut feature, Pepe, premiered in October 2024 to critical acclaim, earning a Jussi nomination (the "Finnish Oscars") for Best Documentary Film.

His latest production credits include JP Siili’s major domestic feature The Mushroom Trip (Sieniretki, 2022) and the TV series Sunset Grove based on Minna Lindgren’s Ehtoolehto trilogy (dir. Taru Mäkelä). Koivusalo also served as a co-producer on Mikko Mäkelä’s feature Sebastian, which had its world premiere at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.

Beyond the film set, Koivusalo possesses a strong pedagogical interest in creative leadership, grounded in his studies in Educational Psychology at the University of Helsinki. This combination of expertise has been reflected for instance in his work as a guest lecturer at Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture. At the core of his pedagogical expertise is an interest in the intersection of psychology and creative processes.

Koivusalo is the founder and Festival Director of Sensommar Filmfest, an annual festival held in Reposaari. His cinematic rhythm is further informed by his background as a drummer, with a particular passion for jazz expression. He has performed in numerous ensembles, most actively at present with the band Nössö Nova.
